Roman's work focuses on handling a dog with calm but at the same time assertive energy.

He approaches dog behavior “top-down” by teaching the Owner first to understand the natural needs and responses of his/hers dog.  He will point out characteristics specific to each breed or breed-mix and work with the Owner in correcting behaviors that stem from these characteristics.

He helps the Owner understand that dogs team animals and Humans need to approach the relationship not very different way from the Human one.   First and foremost the Owner needs to establish his/her role as a emotional balanced Member!

Not through Forced Leadership (predator) but with empathy and through their ability to adapt, oversee, protect, feed and lead their team members to a safe place.  Roman addresses fulfilling and balancing a dog's primary needs in this order:

Exercise: It is the owner's responsibility to fulfill the dog's energy level through challenging exercise.    Roman emphasizes the importance of walking a dog, not only for the dog's exercise, but for the owner and dog to bond—this is where the dog ultimately recognizes its Owner as its partner.

Discipline: It is up to the Owner to provide clearly communicated rules, boundaries and limitations for the dog's behavior. Owners are taught how to watch their dog for subtle cues in the dog's posture, movement and facial expression— to eliminate poor behavior before it arises or escalates.

Affection:  Very important!  But only at the right time – otherwise affection may reinforce negative patterns.  Roman encourages owners to give plentyof affection, but to do so only when the dog is in a balanced state of mind, not when the dog is fearful, anxious, avoidant or excited — when the affection itself generates imbalance and confusion.

Roman believes it is very important that Owners understand the profound effect their own attitudes, internal emotions and even physical posture have on a dog's behavior.  To that effect he counsels owners to hold a “strong posture” (body language and facial expressions) and to project energy that is calm-assertive.

I also stresses that Owners should identify with their dog in a hierarchy of three levels:

- Firstly and most importantly, as a dog with canine rather than human needs.

- Secondly, keeping present the particular breed or breed-mix of their dog.  We frequently find that dogs who were exhibiting aggressive or obsessive behaviors (chewing,    scratching, tail chasing, snarling) are “set right” by being allowed to take on activities specific to their breed (herding, hunting, rescuing)

-  And ONLY at the third level as their individual dog, e.g. "Snowy" or "Tilly"

I also use generally accepted markers while working with a dog.  However, i encourage owners to create their own unique bond that works for them.

I believe that over the 25,000 year span that dogs have been partners with humans, ALL  information of how to be a perfect “human companion” has been stored into their DNA.  The key to “unlocking” this DNA memory is a balanced dog –

A dog that is allowed to unfold his best side….that of the perfect companion!

Our mission:

- Coach Owners to become Balanced tem Members and facilitate the dogs to assume their natural beneficial role in the family dynamic.

-  Encourage Owners to understand and truly bond with their dogs thus enabling balanced human/animal and happy family relationships.

-  The more balanced and cooperative the relationship of the animal with the family, the fewer dogs will be given up for adoption or destroyed.
