In Woodbury it is the stress of the property values decreasing and the ever increasing of taxes.Read More People can not afford their taxes now. This years shell game, the First Selectman and the BOF Chair want everyone to believe that only 40% of the taxpayers taxes are going up. 40% increase in stress in those people's lives. Don't worry though the First Selectman and the BOF Chair have stated that no ones taxes are going up. ??? It's called talking out of both sides of your mouth. Tell the voters whatever they want to hear to get the budget passed. The voters have another chance to VOTE DOWN the proposed budget on the 23rd. Remember VOTE YES FOR HIGHER TAXES.

Hi everyone here. What Christine Coleman said is very true though i may not know her. I experiencedRead More it first hand also. It was this organization called consumer loan firm (C.L.f)that really helped me to pay my medical bills when i was in dare need of money because i am a widow. A friend of my also directed me to them. when i was about to do a major operation and i had no money at that time, they came to my rescue and in less than 48 hours, i got my loan. But to say the truth, i was nervous and scared at first because i have been scammed twice. But when i summoned up courage and follow their lending policies along with my friends advice, at the end i found myself smiling. If not for them, maybe i would have been dead by now. I have even taken another loan from them start my business after my recovery which i am also paying back now. My only advice now is that any body who is really in need of loan should contact them with their email via: consumerloanfirm@gmail.com and get a loan from them. Thanks

I lived it too. I was head of HR in two different organizations and Compensation Manager in others.Read More It is sad that you can't have a discussion with people who have a different opinion from yours without resorting to insults. There are many laws already on the books making it illegal to pay men and women differently, minorities differently, disabled people differently. Titlle VII, EEOC and many others. These laws go all the way back to the 1960's. There are a number of laws outlawing disparate pay practices in CT as well. going back to the 1970's. There is no reason for another Federal law to address what is, in fact, a non-issue anyway. Did you report the illegal, unethical practices of the companies where you worked? I would have. Especially since I'm a woman I would never have kept quiet. And it could have been done with an anonymous letter. No one has ever asked me to do anything unethical or illegal. Good thing, because I wouldn't. The "need" for a new Federal law presupposes that a huge percentage of companies all across this country are still engaging in unethical and illegal practices, and it further presumes that all the Human Resource people in all these companies are complicit in these activites and are silent about them. I don't see how anyone can believe that.
Judy Davidson July 25, 2014 at 10:19 am
You don't understand Human Resources, it is not a means to a company doing what they want. A bigRead More part of the responsibility is to make sure that management knows about and is compliant with any and all government rules and regulations, in order to ensure that employees are treated fairlyand that the company is in compliance.
Bobbie July 25, 2014 at 10:42 am
Yes, Judy. HR is hired to alert the company to its employees' pros and cons and to carry out theRead More company's mandates. In some situations, HR is the CS - company spy. But, that is what is expected by the employees. and I'm sure you know this.

Paula, you'd actually have to show me where I am whining about what you say Im whining about. MyRead More view of the situation is that no one seems to be winning. And it is derived from a liberal point of view that borders are bad things. So we have kids in jails, mothers who no longer have their kids nearby, and border towns that are inundated and strapped for resources. What I see is the border town churches--the one's that are excoraiated for their 'hateful' attitudes the primary organizations that are doing their best to help these kids. People like yourself, I dont see actually helping, unless you think blogging is helpful? People who say they want their tax dollars to go there instead of to the Dept of Defense (me too by the way) but who cant comprehend that the taxpayers are the exact people you villify and the non-taxpayers are the one's you hail as iconic. When you tell me that you view occupy people as sponges and non-contributors to society instead of Exxon, we will be aligned. Do I think that Wal-mart benefits from our social welfare system--yep I do. But thats where unions should step in, not the government. because when government gets involved in anything, it messes things up. I have discussed, but not yet booked getting a ticket and spending a week on the border towns trying to help. I havent committed yet-because Im hoping somebody else joins me. Im not gonna tell you ive done something i havent, but I also dont think that im a better person if I repudiate others as you feel is being a good person. If you tell me you are right there in the trenches -bravo-if youre just anther liberal who makes their life's mission correcting the actions or non-actions of others, while not doing anything real--then who cares . Ive spent a good part of my life trying to help others. And each time I see liberals like yourself lecturing, and my experience is that the people who actually roll up their sleeves are republicans. So prove me wrong-but not fake prove me wrong. But my sense is you actually think you are a good person because you tell others to want to help.
porter gladstone III July 23, 2014 at 05:49 pm

Similar to theRead More mother teresa image you pursue right before you berate someone else online and refuse to actually acknowledge the tax rates of the people you admire. Small minded and closed minded and biased.

"While it’s difficult to find fault with the result of his project, it cannot be leftRead More unsaid that the whole thing smacks of self-serving motivations aimed at improving his ultra-rightist image and reputation for prejudice, and openly expressed hatred for the very people he is pretending to help. In a video appeal last week, Beck said… “Through no fault of their own, they are caught in political crossfire. And while we continue to put pressure on Washington and change its course of lawlessness, we must also help. It is not either/or. It is both. We have to be active in the political game, and we must open our hearts.” Well, that sounds very nice, but it must be remembered that this is coming from the same conspiracy-rattled demagogue who just last month said that it was Obama who “engineered a humanitarian crisis in order to advance progressive policies on illegal immigration.” So the political crossfire of which Beck spoke is largely of his own making. The way Beck has gone about promoting this gesture reeks of undisguised boastfulness and worse, near messianic posturing complete with allegations of death threats. Beck sermonized to his disciples that “I’ve never taken a position more deadly to my career than this.” Really? After saying that President Obama has a “deep-seated hatred of white people;” that if America reelects Obama then God’s response must be that “we have to be destroyed because we will be a remarkable evil on this planet;” that the Obama administration “aided and abetted” the Boston marathon bomber; and agreeing with his guest that the only hope for America “is for Osama bin Laden to deploy and detonate a major weapon in the United States.” Beck has a long record of being dishonest, divisive, and downright dumb, which led to hundreds of advertisers refusing to permit their ads on his Fox News program. That, in turn, led to Fox canceling his show and relegating him to his current status as an Internet video blogger. Yet after all of that, and so much more, Beck believes that his initiative to provide relief to kids undergoing a severe hardship holds more mortal risk to his career than anything he’s ever done?" inching closer to his closure. finally.

MAC is rather entertaining, isn't he? I think that perhaps he believes that if he rallies with theRead More rest of the rightwing mob behind the big money thieves who decimated our pensions and demolished our 401K accounts as they tanked the economy in the Bush regime that he might also become part of the thieving class one day. And really, targeting Michael Moore for enjoying the comforts of riding in first class to London as 'hypocritical' is laugh out loud funny. Especially coming from peons to the wealthiest. The only reason the rightwing tea party doesn't hold Moore up as their god of exposing the corrupt and greed of Wall Street and big corporations is because they feed off of Fox News and Rush Limbaugh who are PAID to delude the masses into thinking the corruption is 'job creating'. First of all, this article is misleading. "The death of nine children already this year thatRead More have been placed with families involved with the Connecticut Department of Children and Families, the agency is promising to investigate the issue and make improvements to guard against future fatalities, the Associated Press reports". Not all of these children were in foster homes, as you read it, take a look at one of the examples talking about the father allegedly throwing his daughter in her bassinet. The baby was not in a foster home, but was living with her mother. DCF was more than likely involved with that family and trying to work with them. I cannot say how the other deaths occurred and where the children were but I suspect they were with their families where DCF is involved. Craig Zac, I don't understand your comment about "throwing a baby of kid in with a family who doesn't really want them or has no emotional bond with them". Are you referring to an infant or child being placed in foster care? If so, I will tell you that we DO WANT THEM and we DO BOND WITH THEM!! I take these kids in when they need someone to take care of them, feed them, cloth them, love them and help them feel safe! I do it out of the kindness of my heart!

CT. putting the "cart before the horse" by legalizing without having the industry toRead More support the new law has actually hurt patients. it costs them money to legally maintain their patient licenses each year and they still have no access to medicine. the people crying "not in my backyard in the cities and towns around the state are the only voices against these grow facilities and dispensaries being heard because their the only voices showing up at city and town debates. enough is enough! the law is in place! its time to deliver the product and open the already authorized dispensaries! end the patient suffering and end the high risk behavior they are forced to engage in by seeking medicine on the black market!
