I agree, WTS. The thing of it is, it needs to be properly explained in a broader forum on a largerRead More scale, and perhaps that would help? Granted, there would still be a some who wouldn't get it, but that's the way it is w/ all things. You can't force understanding on everyone, but if most get it then they can pass it along. Storms are nature's pruners.

If more people understood that there are many stages to a successful forest, they would understand.Read More Most "tree huggers" do not understand nor appreciate that the primary forest growth is vital to not only a successful forest but to all of the associated wildlife within! Connecticut's forest are in need of this type of management everywhere and this should be promoted not condemned!

On #1, we have all my tv's dvd's etc all plugged into a large power block. That power block isRead More plugged into a remote control on off switch, available at WalMart for about $17. No standby power used by any of the things plugged in. Buy a Kill-a-Watt meter you can see what each appliance uses in real time and if you leave the appliance or other device plugged into it for any lenght of time it keeps track of the kWh usage over any period of time up to 99 hours I believe. I never used it that long. I did plug my older refrigerator (about 20 years old) into it for about 50 hours and saw the kWh used over that time. then I plugged in a more up to date refrigerator (2 years old) for the same amount of time and the newer one used about half the electric. I got rid of the older one. It is only 2 of us and we have pretty regular schedules and we have an electric water heater, the largest user of electric in the home. I added a digital timer to it and through much testing of water temperature and how long it takes for the water to drop in temperature and how long it took to bring the 40 gallons back up to proper temperature, oue electric water heater now only has power to it for 2 hours a day and we have never been without hot water. I figured I saved about 605 of the cost of heating water. I probably cut 15% to 205 of our electric use with these simple inexpensive fixes.

They want what? Do they realise that most of us witnessed their NEGLECT during the two storms inRead More which (by my humble estimation) 1/3 of the power outages in the area were caused by trees on thier propertys????? Enough is Enough, now is the time to stop rewarding these companys for years of neglect!!!!!!!!
