Julia Pemberton for First Selectman - About The Candidate

Julia Pemberton is running for First Selectman in Redding, where the seat is open after Natalie Ketcham decided to retire after 14 years of service. This is the first contested First Selectman’s race in 24 years in Redding. Pemberton is running on the Democratic ticket.

In Redding, the number of registered Democrats is only 110 less than registered Republicans. Both parties are outnumbered by about 600 unaffiliated voters.

Pemberton, a twenty-four year resident of Redding, is currently in her fourth year as Selectman, after serving eight years on the Region 9 Board of Education, two years as Chairman.

Pemberton’s vision for Redding preserves what residents value most: open space, excellent schools, a small, efficient government delivering great service, and keeping Redding affordable.

During a successful ten-year career in media technology, and four years as a non-profit executive, Pemberton learned the skills that make her a good leader. A natural listener and collaborator, she led the Board of Education through a failed building project, restoring public confidence, and was twice re-elected with bipartisan support.
