Attention Gusterrhoids......Guster with Ra-Ra Riot, Wednesday Aug 3rd, Ives Concert Park

Guster and Ra Ra Riot at the Ives Wednesday

Danbury, CT

This Wednesday night, August 3rd, the Ives Concert Park comes alive when alternative/indie rock band, “Guster” brings their music and merriment to the stage as part of the 2011 Union Savings Bank Summer Concert Series.   The opening act is Ra-Ra Riot, followed by 2 sets by Guster.

During a show in NY, the band started their show with an empty stage. The music to The Price is Right played over the sound system, and a voice called each of the band members down from where they had hid themselves in the audience. Upon hearing their name, each member played the part of an enthusiastic game show contestant all the way to the stage.

Guster‘s roots are from Boston, where the Band started playing in 1991. They are wildly popular for their live performances and humor.  In 2006, Guster won Album of the Year at the Boston Music Awards. Founding members Adam Gardner, Ryan Miller, and Brian Rosenworcel began playing together while attending Tufts University. Luke Reynolds joined the band in 2010 replacing Joe Pisipia.

Guster's tours were originally local, but began to spread as the band gained popularity. In 1999, Guster gave its first performance in Canada, followed by a 2004 tour in Britain that had four shows in London and one in Manchester.

On August 2nd, they are releasing “On the Ocean” an EP for their fans, which will be available at the Park. Guster maintains a liberal taping policy and has a very dedicated and active taping community. Despite this policy, the band has released several live shows via iTunes.

In 2004, Guster guitarist and vocalist Adam Gardner and his wife co-founded Reverb, an organization dedicated to assisting touring artists by making activities more environmentally sound. It operates from within the music industry as well as the environmental world. Reverb greens artists’ tours and the music business at large while raising awareness and support for the environment through an interactive eco-village. Since its inception, Reverb has worked with (among others) Jack Johnson, Barenaked Ladies, Bonnie Raitt, John Mayer, Dave Matthews Band, and, of course, Guster. They even offer a Ride-Share option for shows on their website….www.guster.com

There will be an opening act on Wednesday.  Ra Ra Riot is an American indie rock band from Syracuse, New York, consisting of vocalist Wes Miles, bassist Mathieu Santos, guitarist Milo Bonacci, cellist Alexandra Lawn, violinist Rebecca Zeller, and drummer Gabriel Duquette.  They will start at 730pm. Guster will perform two sets with an intermission.

Park gates will open at about 630pm for this show. Parking is free. No Beverages are allowed into the park, but are for sale. Food is allowed into the park, and great food is available on site.
