Weston Girls Medal at Gymnastics Championship

Over 1,700 gymnasts, representing 100 YMCAs, came together in Milwaukee for the YMCA National Gymnastics Championships. Rachel Esslinger and Mary Corcoran, both of , competed in the five day event, along with their teammates from the Wilton Family YMCA.

Rachel competed in the level 4 junior division. At the end of competition, Rachel found herself on the awards podium five times. Rachel’s highest honors were on the bars, scoring a 9.75 for the gold. A score of 37.35 put Rachel second in the All-Around and third on the floor exercise with a score of 9.45.

Mary Corcoran, a level nine competitor, had three days of tough competition. After arriving in the gym with a severe stomach virus, Mary still managed to perform the first two days. At the end of the third day of competition Mary medaled on the bars and the All-Around.
