Sport Hill Farm Announces CSA Program 2013!

Spring is in the air and it's time to think about signing up for your CSA share from Sport Hill Farm.

Patti Popp here from Sport Hill Farm 2013 to announce that we are taking applications for our 2013 CSA (community sustained agriculture) program and have TWO new drop off sites besides the farm pick-up.

They are in:

• Bridgeport at B'nai Israel 2710 Park Avenue from 11:30a.m. - 1:00p.m.

• WESTPORT at Wakeman Town Farm 134 Cross Highway from 1:00p.m.-7:00p.m.

CSA-Community Supported Agriculture: We are in keeping with the original concept of the CSA. We grow everything you receive in your share. Hate to tell you many of the CSA's popping up are bought and boxed up produce from big ag, not always grown by the farmer. With this said," you get what you get & you don't get upset."We put our heart and soul into everything we grow. You are eating seasonally for 21 weeks.

This season we do a farm pick up in Easton as well as drop offs in Bridgeport & Westport. If a farmer is really growing their own, there is no guarantee in nature. Weather, pests and even deer can come in and destroy a crop overnight. Doing our CSA is an investment with us taking and understanding the good with the bad. In our 8 years providing such a service I thankfully never had to tell anyone to skip a week because of crop damage. Our program usually runs June-Mid October. Sign-ups for 2013 have begun.
