Tonight, hundreds of family members and friends will see off the 190 members of Weston High School's Class of 2012 as they embark on the next phases of their lives.
The commencement ceremony—scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. under a tent on the high school grounds, rain or shine—"serves to recognize the completion of 13 years of education and marks a significant milestone in the life of the graduate and his/her family," according to a letter sent out by administrators.
Following the ceremony, which is expected to take 90 minutes, there will be a reception in the high school cafeteria.
"This year we will have a recessional march from the graduation tent to the High School Cafeteria for the reception provided by the junior class," the letter says. "The Graduation Reception is another fine Weston High School tradition. The parents of juniors prepare a reception for graduates and their families."
"Members of this class have demonstrated much personal growth over these past four years," the letter continues. "They have achieved and contributed through their academics, student government, extracurricular activities, the arts, community service, and athletics."
