School Briefs: March 23

Local students earn accolades at schools across the country.

Katherine A. Von Ancken, of Easton, was recently named to the dean’s list for the Fall 2011 semester at Drew University. In order to be named, students must earn a grade point average of at least 3.4.

Jason Gussen, of Weston, is a member of Eastern Connecticut State University’s pre-law society. He is majoring in political science.

Two Weston students were recently named to the dean’s list for the Fall 2011 semester at Cornell University: Jessica Briggs and Julie Sitver.

Colgate University recently released its dean’s list for the Fall 2011 semester, and three local students were among those named:

  • Alexandra Kathryn Atkinson, a senior history major who is a graduate of ;
  • Caroline Elizabeth Williams, a junior environmental economics major who lives in Easton and is a graduate of Joel Barlow High School; and
  • Jayne Barbara Tamboia, a junior English major who lives in Redding and is also a Barlow graduate.

In order to be named, students must earn a grade point average of at least 3.3.

Emory College recently released its dean’s list for the Fall 2011 semester, and four local students were among those named:

  • Ian Bolin, of Weston, son of Kurt and Anne Bolin;
  • Mackenzie Crocker, of Weston, daughter of Mason and Darla Crocker;
  • Michael Blau, of Weston, son of Peter and Barbara Blau; and
  • Diana Neeves, of Redding, daughter of Walter and Patricia Neeves.

In order to be named, students must be in the top 20 percent of Emory or have a grade point average of 3.81 or higher.
