Weston, Redding and Easton students shine at universities nationwide.

The following area residents were named to the dean's list for the Spring 2012 semester at Quinnipiac University:

  • Jessica Seewald, of
  • Zachary Singer, of Redding
  • Mara Yamnicky, of Redding

To qualify for the dean's list, a student must earn a grade point average of at least 3.5 with no grade lower than C.

Elmira College recently held its commencement exercises, and Alex Van Steinburgh, of Redding, earned a bachelor of science degree in business administration.

The following area students have been named to the dean's list for the Spring 2012 semester at the University of Vermont:

  • Emily L. Jessep, of Redding, a senior majoring in anthropology in the College of Arts & Sciences.
  • Hannah D. Sherman, of Redding, a first-year student majoring in psychology in the College of Arts & Sciences.
  • William C. Baker, of Weston, a junior majoring in electrical engineering in the College of Engineering & Mathematical Sciences.

To be named to the dean's lists, students must have a grade-point average of 3.0 or better and rank in the top 20 percent of their class in their respective college or school.

The following James Madison University students have been named to the president's list for the Spring 2012 semester:

  • Daniel Parrett, of Weston, has earned president's list honors. Parrett is majoring in finance.
  • Marlee Najamy Winnick, of Weston, has earned president's list honors. Najamy Winnick is majoring in integrated science and technology.

Students who receive president's list honors must carry a semester course load of at least 12 graded credit hours and earn a GPA of 3.9 or above.

Michael Odierna, of Weston, graduated with a bachelors degree from Gettysburg College on May 20. Odierna majored in psychology.
