School Briefs: Aug. 24

The following area residents have been named to the dean's list at Providence College for the Spring 2012 semester:

• Amy Gentile, of , is a member of the Class of 2014
• Julia McDonald, of Weston, is a member of the Class of 2014
• Catherine O'Connell, of Easton, is a member of the Class of 2012
• Natalie Odierna, of Weston, is a member of the Class of 2014

To qualify for the dean's list, students must achieve at least a 3.55 grade point average with a minimum of 12 credits.

Cheshire Academy announced its honor roll for the Fourth Quarter of the 2011-2012 academic school year. Zachary Mettel, Grade Ten, of Weston, received first honors, which mean his GPA was at least 3.67.

Miami University recently held its commencement ceremonies, and local students were among those who earned degrees:

• Michael E. Gorkin of Weston 
• George Alexander Toutoungi of Weston
• Jenna Elizabeth Keplesky of Weston

Miami University students who achieved a 3.5 or better grade point average for Spring 2012 semester have been named to the dean's list recognizing academic performance:

• Joanna Cyd Rosenthal of Weston
• Anahita Daghoghi of Weston

Hartwick College junior Shannon Foley, of Redding, daughter of Donna and John Foley, has been named to the Spring 2012 dean's list.
