Letter: Barlow Field Project Delays are Unacceptable

By David Gallaer

Dear Region 9 Board Members:

I am writing to express my extreme dissatisfaction with the recent status that is now citing further delays once again after having personally attended many of the meetings on this matter to ensure that things were progressing as planned.  The fact that you are now saying that Zoning and Bidding still need to be done is simply not acceptable.  Both John Shaban and I have offered many times to assist with Zoning and Bidding and we have never been called to action since everything was supposedly on track.

Let’s make this extremely simple:  What needs to be done NOW so that our athletes can have the proper facilities to cultivate their growth and success, while having adequate practice facilities to prepare for the Conference and State Championship Games that are being attained by Lacrosse, Soccer and Football?  Whatever needs to be done, I can assure you that WE have the means to make it happen.  It is an outrage that this project has taken this long to develop and a gross disservice to our children who have succeeded in SPITE of the Board’s lack of motivation and/or determination to provide the 9th Best School in CT with proper athletic facilities so that the Joel Barlow FARM is no longer the laughing stock of CT high school sports.

Please let US know whatever needs to be done and WE will make it happen to ensure that there are no further delays and that WE can have a new field and stadium by September.
