Honey Tasting Laboratory Workshop with Red Bee Apiary's Honey Sommelier Marina Marchese

Beekeeper and Honey Sommelier Marina Marchese will lead a tour of Red Bee Apiary, teaching guests how honeybees make this liquid gold we call honey. Participants will learn how location and nectar source determine a honey's color and flavor, and how honey is harvested and extracted from the hive. Afterwards, guests will gather at farmhouse style tables to taste and evaluate artisanal honeys.

This event will feature local, East Coast honeys: sweet and buttery blueberry blossom, dark and rich tulip poplar, grassy alfalfa, distinctive inkberry, and fragrant goldenrod are a few favorites!

Each menu includes carefully orchestrated "Tasting Flights" of seven single-origin local honeys and seven perfectly paired seasonal accompaniments: locally and estate-produced cheese, fruit, chocolate, olive oil, nuts, bread, spices or herbs.
