ER9 Names Acting Assistant Superintendent

After a tri-board meeting last week, Stephanie Pierson Ugol was named to the second highest education position.

Stephanie Pierson Ugol, principal of , was appointed last week to serve as the Easton, Redding and Region 9 School Districts' assistant superintendent of curriculum and instruction. 

At a tri-board meeting last week, , spoke to the value of partnering with someone who is "inherently familiar with the important curricular work that needs to be done in the district" as well as the his belief that Pierson Ugol can "help create the rich and relevant curriculum" that students deserve, according to a press release sent out by the district.

“Stephanie understands the issues at hand in the region,” Josefsberg said. “She is bright, analytic and energetic, and she has a ‘big picture’ perspective that is essential for central office and cross‐district work.”

Within the region, Pierson Ugol "has held a leadership role across a range of important and ongoing initiatives," according to the release.  These include:

  • Curricular design work in literacy and social studies
  • Performance assessment design
  • Elementary report card re‐design
  • “Scientific Research‐based Intervention” (SRBI) implementation
  • Professional development
  • Math differentiation
  • iPad teacher leader pilot

Though Pierson Ugol is the acting assistant superintendent, the search for a permanent person remains underway. Two members from each of the three Boards of Education "will be convened to determine the best process for making a permanent appointment to this position," according to the release.
