Barlow JV softball bounces back
Tuesday Barlow JV sofball defeated Laurelton Hall by run rule at home
The Barlow JV softball team bounced back on Tuesday 4/16 with a home win against an always tough Laurelton Hall team. Barlow scored 5 runs in the bottom of the 1st with walks from Margot Angelo and Rachel Corr followed by a triple from Zoe Marcelino. Haley Striling singled in Marcelino and then scored on 3 consecutive passed balls. Brianna Zappula singled to continue the inning and reached 3rd on two passed balls. She then scored on a fielders choice off of Emma Ruggiero’s bat. Laurelton Hall scored 2 runs in the top of the 2nd after a lead off walk and then 3 consecutive singles.
Barlow continued it’s offensive attack in the bottom of the 2nd with Kimberly Uzwiak and Jessica Stewart both batting twice with 2 singles each. Angelo was hit by a pitch and walked in the same inning and doubles from Zappula and Ruggiero helped in the 8 run inning. Barlow scored 3 runs in the 3rd inning off hits by Marcelino, Stirling and Zappula with each scoring. Barlow scored 2 more runs in the 4th to put the finishing touches on the run rule.
Uzwiak, Striling and Zappula went 3 for 4 at the plate, Angelo walked 3 times and Marcelino had 2 triples, a single and a walk in an outstanding offensive attack.
Uzwiak added 5 strikeouts in a fine pitching performance.
