Weston Budgets Pass With Little Fanfare

Voters approved the town and school budgets in Weston today, though voter turnout was low.

Despite a low turnout, voters in Weston approved a $11.3 million town budget and a $45.6 million school budget for the 2012-2013 fiscal year.

For the town budget, the 'yes' votes totaled 270 (75 percent) and the 'no' votes totaled 90 (25 percent); for the school budget, the 'yes' votes totaled 256 (70.3 percent) and the 'no' votes totaled 108 (29.7 percent).

The town budget represents a 1.2 percent increase over the current budget, while the school budget represents a 0.93 percent increase.

Voter turnout was 5.7 percent. According to the town's website, there were 6,364 registered voters as of Nov. 1, 2011. 

Voting took place on Thursday, April 12 at the gymnasium.
