Rowe Announces Bid for Probate Judge

State Representative T.R. Rowe (R-Trumbull) has announced his intention to seek his party’s nomination for the Probate Judgeship serving Trumbull, Monroe & . His announcement is in response to the news that long-time Probate Judge John Chiota will be vacating his post in February 2013. Governor Malloy recently declared a special election for the soon to be vacated post to coincide with the general election on November 6th.

Representative Rowe commented, “I have been honored and blessed to have spent the last 14 years representing Trumbull in the State Legislature. Having been elected 7 different times to serve in the General Assembly has been a responsibility I have treasured, and continues to be one I take very seriously.  However, the opportunity to continue my public service as the Probate Judge of the district of Trumbull, Monroe andEaston was one I could not pass up. I commend Judge Chiota for his 30 plus years of service to our community, and wish him well in his future endeavors.”

Rowe continued, “A Probate Judge, in my view, needs to be caring and compassionate to residents going through the Probate system, as well as knowledgeable about Probate law. As an attorney in a private law practice which includes probate work, and by virtue of having served 14 years on the Judiciary Committee, which oversees all probate laws, I am uniquely suited to serve as a judge of the Probate Court.”

Representative Rowe lives in Trumbull with his wife Michelle and his four children, Joseph, James, Gemma and John. He is an Honorary Member of the Board of Directors of Caroline House, an educational center serving the women of the Bridgeport area by teaching classes in English and basic computer and life skills. He is also a member of the Endangered Lands Coalition, which is dedicated to protecting our open space and water supply. Also, he is a member of the Financial Review Board of Sts. Cyril & Methodius Church in Bridgeport as well as serving as a member of the Kennedy Center Legislative Advisory Committee.

He was honored by the State Association of Police Chiefs as Legislator of the Year in 2006, and received the Exemplary Leadership & Service Award from the Connecticut Chapter of the National Elder Law Attorneys in 2010.

Rowe also said, “I look forward to campaigning for this new responsibility, but aside from filing the necessary paperwork, I will not begin campaigning for the position until the legislative session ends on May 9th, so I can devote my time and attention to that responsibility.”
