Poverty Hollow Bridge is Closed in Redding

The following is a press release sent by the Anita Arnold.

The bridge on Poverty Hollow Road just south of Meeker Hill Road will be closed to all traffic on Monday, July 23, until further notice.

The Town of has contracted with NJR Construction of Terryville, CT for the rehabilitation of the bridge. Motorists are encouraged to use Rte 25 or 58 as an alternate north/south route.

If the experience we've seen with the bridge over the railroad tracks on Simpaug Turnpike is any indication, this bridge should reopen just in time for the 2014 winter solstice.

It's not a very big bridge, and having it closed completely should speed up the process (I hope). Closed till further notice does concern me though, was there no project deadline put on this project? How can a town approve a project with such little scope?

I agree with the Simpaug comments......good luck. That bridge was supposed to reopen MONTHS ago!

Chief Fuchs said they were told it would be open a week from today. . .not sure if that's in stone or not.
