Moore to Run for Ed Board Following Stack's Sudden Resignation

WESTON —The Republican slate for the Board of Education will have a new
candidate on the November ballot following the surprise announcement by incumbent Sonya Stack that her family will be moving to Zurich. Chris Moore, the father of two Weston students and Global Head of Litigation and Legal Policy for GE Capital, will be running with GOP candidate Elise Major.

When asked how he felt about stepping up to the plate to serve on the Board of Education, Moore said, "Sonya's departure represents a real loss for the Board and the town, and we all are grateful for her public service. If given the opportunity, I will partner with Elise Major and other board members in contributing to a dynamic institution that is of paramount importance to the growth of our children and to the fabric of our town.”

Weston Republican Town Committee Chair Britta Lerner added, "We are grateful for Sonya's superlative service on Weston's Board of Education. She is unparalleled in her commitment and we will miss her. At the same time, we are excited to welcome Chris Moore who is poised to give his time and talent to Weston's Board of Education."

In her withdrawal announcement Sonya said, "I have been privileged and proud to serve with dedicated Board of Education members to safeguard Weston's excellent school system. I am disappointed that our family's move from this wonderful community will prevent me from continuing in a role that has been so rewarding. But I do leave, confident in our superintendent and administrative team, our schools, and Chris Moore who runs in my place, joining Elise Major on the Republican ticket. They will not miss a beat."

This was a press release issued by the Weston Republican Town Committee.
