Herrmann Withdraws, Easton GOP Endorses Adam Dunsby

Press Release:

The Easton Republican Town Committee has announced that Tom Herrmann will not seek reelection to a fourth term as Easton’s First Selectman and that Adam Dunsby has been endorsed as the Republican nominee to replace Mr.  Herrmann in the November 5, 2013 municipal election.

Mr. Herrmann stated “I am very proud of all that we’ve been able to accomplish together – by tightening budgets and making Easton town government more efficient, we’ve held property tax increases to less than 2% a year over the past six years.  And we’ve managed to do it while preserving our zoning regulations, enacting one of the most comprehensive senior tax relief programs in the state, and sustaining an excellent public school system.”

Mr. Herrmann is a Managing Partner with Stanwich Partners, a private-equity firm. After having accepted CEO responsibilities at a company in Ohio last winter, his out of town commitments have increased. According to Mr. Herrmann “A position that I believed would be temporary has recently become a longer-term obligation with increased time commitment. Since it is no longer possible for me to fulfill the responsibilities of both jobs, I believe it is unfair to the town to begin a term that I would be unable to complete. Adam will make an excellent First Selectman, and he has my full support.

Mr. Dunsby is currently Chairman of the Easton Board of Education, Chair of the Republican Town Committee, and prior Chairman of the town’s Conservation Commission. He also serves on the Representative Council of CES, Fairfield County’s regional education service center, and coaches Easton Little League. A resident of Easton since 2002 Adam and his wife, Cathy, have four school-aged children ranging in grades from Kindergarten at Samuel Staples Elementary to a 10th grader at Joel Barlow High School.

Having been involved in public service for almost his entire tenure as an Easton resident, Mr. Dunsby has guided responsible education budgets to passage, conducted contract negotiations, worked to protect Easton’s rivers and wetlands, and encouraged qualified people to serve on Easton’s boards and commissions.

Mr. Dunsby stated, “I’m honored to be the Republican candidate for First Selectman. I love serving the Town of Easton, and I look forward to deepening my commitment.”
