Hanson To Challenge Herrmann For First Selectman

Two Eastonites to seek nomination at Republican caucus next week.

C. Lee Hanson recently announced that he will seek the Republican nomination for Easton First Selectman at the Republican Caucus being held at the on Tuesday, July 26 at 7:30 p.m.

Hanson will seek the nomination against current First Selectman Thomas Herrmann.

In taking this action, Mr. Hanson said he was responding to the great concerns expressed by many citizens, elected and appointed members of town boards and commissions as well as town employees about the need to restore the traditional system of checks and balances in the governance of our Easton and the authority of the Town Meeting.

“Traditionally, the Town Meeting was a place where thoughtful dialogue between citizens and elected officials could fully explore issues," Hanson said in a press release. "It was never intended to be a rubber stamp. We should call Town Meetings, even when they are not legally required, to seek the opinions of all people. As First Selectman, I will make it a priority.”

Mr. Hanson is a graduate of Northeastern University (BS in Business Administration) and Boston University (MBA). He had a distinguished career at General Electric Company, including key assignments in Europe and Singapore (VP-Finance) and at Smiths Industries, a major UK based multi-national (VP Finance US International Sales). He is a graduate of the prestigious General Electric Business Management Course. A veteran, he served as a commissioned officer for 2 years active duty and 4 years in the Army Reserves. A 34-year resident of Easton, he is a member of the Easton Board of Finance, treasurer of the , past treasurer and past President of the Exchange Club of Easton. He was one of the original organizers of the Easton Learning Foundation (ELF) and served on a Strategic Planning Committee for Region 9.

This book really was a great read. And I bet his reading will be quite a performance too. Mr. BlackRead More is not only very, very funny, but very astute too. He's a screenwriter, so it shouldn't have surprised me to find that he is an excellent writer, but I was really impressed.

I loved the book! Bought it the day it came out.
