Eastonites May Bring Christmas Trees to the Public Works Yard

The town of Easton will be accepting old Christmas trees for recycling. All trees should be deposited in the marked area at the Public Works yard at 15 Westport Road.

Public Works Dir. Ed Nagy said holiday wreathes will not be accepted. His department also asks that people remove all "foreign material", such as lights, decorations and plastic bags from the trees.

According to State law, the trees are considered yard waste and must be recycled like brush, grass clippings and leaves, Nagy said in a press release, adding the trees will be recycled by chipping them into mulch.
