Easton Man Charged in Fairfield Bar Fight

A bar fight at on the Post Road Friday night injured three and resulted in six arrests, Fairfield police said.

The initial report to police stated that a woman in the bar began yelling, “My man is a cop.” The man with her -- later identified as Agustin Crus, 32, of Shelton, reportedly pulled out a wallet with a silver badge and said, “Yeah, I’m a cop!”

Cruz then allegedly pushed a male into a booth and struck a second male at the bar, police said. Another employee was punched in the hubbub.

Three other people became involved in the fight after they pulled a female bartender across the restaurant by her hair and allegedly kicked and punched her along the way, police said.

Emergency personnel were dispatched to the scene. Two victims-- including the aforementioned bartender -- were transported to St. Vincent’s Medical Center for scratches and swelling; a third victim refused medical treatment at the scene.

Cruz reportedly denied saying he was a police officer but admitted he is a volunteer firefighter for Trumbull, police said. He was charged with criminal impersonation of a police officer and is scheduled to face his charge in court on May 1.

The three women who allegedly dragged the bartender across the bar were each charged with disorderly conduct and third-degree assault. Claribel Rodriguez, 21, and Yulissa Rodriguez, 24, both of Stratford and Glady Rodriguez, 25, of Trumbull are scheduled to appear in court on May 1.

Two other men were charged for their alleged involvement in the fight. Thomas Chanaca, 31, of Easton was charged with disorderly conduct and third-degree assault; Daniel Martinez, 30, of Shelton was charged with third-degree assault. Both are due in court on May 1.

The cause of the argument was unclear, department spokesperson Sgt. Sue Lussier said.
