Man Struck, Killed by Amtrak Train In Milford

Police activity related to the accident Friday morning disrupted service in the area for both the Metro-North and Amtrak train lines.

Update at 4:20 p.m.

New Haven Line Service is now operating on or close to schedule, according to the MTA's Twitter account

Update at 2:05 p.m.

The man struck by an Amtrack train in Milford late Thursday morning has died, according to a News 8 report.

His name has not yet been released by police, who told reporters at the scene the fatal accident may have been a suicide.

There were no injuries reported for the more than 240 passengers on the train. 

Update at 12:27 p.m.

Amtrak is now reporting that all service from New Haven to Bridgeport has been restored.

"Residual delays expected," the railroad company added.

Update at 12:20 p.m.

Metro North is now reporting that "New Haven Line Customers will experience 15 to 20 minute delays between West Haven and Stratford in both directions" due to police activity related to this morning's accident.

A person has been struck by an Amtrak train just west of the Milford station shortly before 11 a.m. this morning, according to a News 8 report

The condition of the person struck is not yet available at this time.

Amtrak service has been disrupted in both Milford and Bridgeport due to the accident. 

And Metro-North's New Haven Line service is currently delayed near Milford due to the police activity," the commuter rail company reported via Twitter

I heard that it was a suicide as well, but that could be just a rumor? Was it the Acela by chance? I saw the Acela stopped on the southbound side at the Stratford station around that time today.

Ok well it wasn't the Acela. I guess they stopped all trains until they could sort out what was happening?
