Redding's Sanford Pleads Not Guilty

The former highway superintendent pleads not guilty to taking more than $20,000 from Redding.

pled not guilty Thursday to his allegedly ripping the town of Redding off to the tune of more than $20,000, the Danbury News Times reports.

According to the News Times, Sanford allegedly sold town vehicles for scrap and did not turn over those funds to Redding. When asked where the funds from those vehicles were, Sanford said the town received no money because the vehicles contained hydraulic oil. But when the workers who sold the vehicles were asked, they said they received money and turned it over to Sanford.

Sanford also pled not guilty .
