Redding Police Respond To 'Drinking Party'

Reports of an underage drinking party were unfounded.

On Friday, July 6 at 12:25 a.m., responded to a residence on Beech Lane after a neighbor phoned in about a potential underage drinking party which was taking place.

“It was a small gathering,” Police Chief Douglas Fuchs said. “No alcohol was involved.”

The incident marked in that Redding Police investigated reports of underage drinking.

Fuchs said that someone had apparently put an advertisement on the internet that there was an alcohol party at the residence, and 100 to 125 kids from Danbury and Bethel “showed up very quickly.”

“Some brought their own alcohol,” he said.

Following their arrival, an altercation ensued, though police weren’t sure who started it.

Many of the kids from out of town left before Redding Police arrived on the scene, and the remaining ones were dispersed upon arrival.

“This is the second party in two weeks in which somebody posted online that there was an underage drinking party and kids from other towns descended upon the party, creating a problem,” Fuchs said.

No arrests were made.

Redding Police also responded to a residence on Beech Lane on Monday, July 9 at 11:12 p.m. on a report of another youth gathering, but no action was taken.
