Reports of gunshots Friday night sent Redding Police to a Simpaug Turnpike home, where, police say, they discovered the body of a resident who had shot and killed himself.
The road was temporarily closed while police investigated, beginning at about 9 p.m. Two hours later, Redding Police Chief Douglas Fuchs sent the following message out on Twitter:
"The scene on Simpaug Tpk is now clear. 60 year old male is deceased of apparent self inflicted gunshot wound. Thoughts are with his family."
