Man Drives On Sidewalk While Kids Walk To Buses

He drove on a sidewalk while kids walked to their buses

Last month, a Weston man who said he was in a hurry to pick up his children allegedly drove his car on the sidewalk in front of Weston Intermediate School as school was getting out, passing five buses which had their stop signs displayed, in order to get around them.

Robert Pritsker, 70, of Steep Hill Road, was arrested on Sunday, July 10 and charged with reckless endangerment in the first degree, risk of injury to a minor, two counts of breach of peace in the second degree, reckless driving, five counts of passing a stopped school bus and unsafe movement of a motor vehicle.

According to police, an employee of Weston Public Schools contacted the department on Monday, June 6 to tell them about the incident, which occurred at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday, June 2. The employee said the man had a confrontation with a bus driver, asking the driver to move. When the driver didn’t, obeying protocol, the man drove down the sidewalk while children were walking to their buses.

A bus driver was able to get the man’s license plate, and the school employee told police the man frequently played tennis on the courts at the school complex.

On June 6, Weston Police found Pritsker on the tennis courts. Pritsker then told police his view of the incident, saying the bus driver, who was blocking the exit without a stop sign displayed, would not move out of the way for him. Pritsker said he had to pick up his children, and “was not going to be held captive by the bus driver.”

Weston Police received written statements from five bus drivers corroborating the complaint. The bus driver Pritsker allegedly argued with said that Pritsker was screaming and using foul language and was “out of his mind.”

Pritsker was held on a $25,000 bond.

Evading responsibility, reckless driving

Tyler Bierman, 19, of Rouges Ridge Road, was arrested and charged with reckless driving, evading responsibility, failure to keep right at a curve and speeding following a one-car motor vehicle accident, which occurred on Davis Hill Road on May 16.

According to police, officers arrived to that accident and found a crashed motor vehicle, which was unoccupied.

Bierman was held on $2,500 bond.
