Man Asleep at Wheel Gets DWI in Redding

Patrick O’Connor, 45, of Florida was arrested on Sunday, June 10 at 9:33 p.m. and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol after police found him passed out behind the wheel of his car on Umpawaug Road in the roadway.

According to police, officers approached O’Connor and woke him up. He appeared under the influence of alcohol and subsequently failed field sobriety tests. When in custody, he refused to take a breathalyzer test.

He was released on $150 bond and is scheduled to appear in court later this month.

On Tuesday, June 5 at 10:16 a.m., police stopped an unregistered motor vehicle on Redding Road. Emerson Phillips, 53, from Weston was also to be driving without insurance and driving with a suspended license. He was released on a promise to appear at a June 19 court date.

On Thursday, June 7 at 9:17 a.m., police stopped a driver on Hill Road for driving without a seatbelt. John Timber, 69, of Bethel was found to also be driving with a suspended license. He was released on a written promise to appear in court later this month.

On Friday, June 8 at 8:05 a.m., police stopped a driver for speeding on Umpawaug Road. It was later found the driver—Kyaw Oo, 31, of Ohio—was driving with suspended insurance as well.

On Monday, June 4 at 5:08 p.m., an iPhone was reported to police to have been stolen from a backpack at .
