I-95 North In Stratford Shut Down After Crash

Traffic on Interstate 95 North in Stratford continues to backed up for miles after an accident involving a tractor trailer and several other vehicles at Exit 30 (Surf Avenue) has closed the busy highway.

A total of 8 vehicles, including the tractor trailer, were involved in the crash, which occurred just before 1:30 p.m., according to the Stratford 911 communications center's Twitter feed.

The dispatchers reported that one patient had to be extricated from their vehicle, with a total of 15 patients in all that were evaluated by EMS members on the scene.

There is no word yet if any of those evaluated were seriously injured.

Although EMS command at the scene has been terminated, Stratford Fire officials reported a short time ago that they are still waiting for two vehicles to be removed from the location, according to reports to dispatch over the scanner.

Patch will continue to provide updates as more information becomes available.
