Fairfield Police Searching for Armed Bank Robbers

The Fairfield County Credit Union on Black Rock Turnpike was robbed by three armed men Monday.

Police are searching for three men who allegedly robbed a Fairfield bank Monday.  

According to police, a bank robbery was reported from the Fairfield County Credit Union at 1515 Black Rock Turnpike, Fairfield, on Jan. 27 at approximately 12:06 p.m.

Three suspects arrived at the bank in a blue 1996 Buick Century, 4-door, with CT reg. 136-XYB.  It was later learned that the vehicle was stolen from Trumbull Avenue in Bridgeport that morning. The vehicle is still active and has not been recovered, according to police.

One male operator stayed in the vehicle and was described as wearing a red jacket. The other two males entered the bank, one wearing a blue hooded sweat shirt. He brandished a handgun and demanded money from the teller, an undetermined amount of money was taken.  All three suspects are described as black males, no age or other information was provided, according to police.

The suspects fled the scene in the stolen vehicle, southbound on Black Rock Turnpike toward Interstate 95. No injuries were reported and officers from surrounding towns were notified, according to police.
