Bridgeport Man Charged With Driving Under the Influence in Weston

A 35-year-old Bridgeport man was arrested and charged with driving under the influence on August 4 after an officer found him driving his SUV erratically on Weston Road, according to the . 

A Weston police officer was on routine patrol when he was dispatched to the Georgetown Road area where there was a report of a gold Jeep was driving erratically, according to police.

When the officer arrived, he saw the jeep, which was being operated by Filiberto Hernandez-Vasquez of 287 Ellworth Street, heading south on Weston Road. When the officer stopped the vehicle and asked Fernandez to exit the car, he said that he noticed the odor of alcohol. He also observed that the driver's eyes were glassy and red, and that his speech was slurred.

When asked how many alcoholic drinks were consumed, Hernandez-Vasquez told the officer that he had only two beers. After failing three sobriety field tests, Hernandez-Vasquez was arrested and charged with illegal operation of a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol.

Hernandez-Vasquez was released on a $300 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Aug. 12.
