Another Week, Another Accident on Route 7 in Redding

Redding Police news, Oct. 15 through Oct. 21.

On Friday, Oct. 19 at 11 a.m., Redding Police responded to yet another accident on the small portion of Route 7 that passes through town. The accident is at least the 19th accident to occur on that portion of road since January, something Police Chief Douglas Fuchs has said is an anomaly when compared to other roads.

According to police, Stephanie Ruttkamp, 19, of Wilton was driving north on Route 7 when she crossed into the southbound lane and struck a car driven by Helen McGuire, 66, of Ridgefield. The accident resulted in very minor damage, police said.

Ruttkamp was issued a warning for failure to grant half of the highway to traffic.
