A Weston Native Will Join the Town's Police Force

On Thursday morning the Weston Police Department will swear-in a new officer, Weston native, Jason Greenfield, 26. Prior to pursuing a career in law enforcement, Greenfield had served as a volunteer firefighter in town since age 16.

A ceremony will be held for Greenfield in the Meeting Room of Weston Town Hall on Thursday at 11 a.m. Police Det. Carl Filsinger, who has known Greenfield since he was in the fifth-grade, said the public is invited.

When Greenfield is ready to join the force, Chief John Troxell, who also grew up in town, will have 10 patrol officers. In addition to the patrol unit, the Weston Police Department has one detective and three sergeants.

As a firefighter, Greenfield assisted the fire department with its radio communications, according to Filsinger.

He has taken classes at Boston University and Norwalk Community College in pursuit of a bachelor's degree. Greenfield is a member of Weston High School's Class of '05.
