Thanks to the Weston Police Department

The following is a letter to the editor sent by J.D. Blake of Weston.

To the Editor:

Just a quick note to acknowledge and thank the Weston Police Department, who - not knowing the circumstances taking place last Friday - didn't hesitate in locking down School Road and making sure that our children and grandchildren were safe and felt so. They, as usual, responded in a swift and overt way which inspires and shows our determination in an appropriate and responsible manner while also protecting our citizens.

While others politicize this tragedy and bring into debate religion, ideogy and gun rights, we should instead refocus on the victims and families affected by undiagnosed mental illness. If anyone additional need be discussed, let it be the heroes of the Weston Police Department - who prove their valor time and again. I, for one, would be honored if my grandson follows through on his dedication to be an officer. And I think that we should do all that we can to support and thank them, especially given their Herculean efforts over this and last year in particular.
