In the race for Lt. Governor, Representative Penny Bacchiochi (R-52) shone brightly on the State Convention Floor (Mohegan Sun Convention Center May 16-17) winning the vast majority of delegate votes over former Groton Mayor, Heather Somers and General David Walker. Bacchiochi, Somers and Walker had all presented previously to the Weston Republican Town Committee in an effort to win delegate votes. “All three were strong candidates,” noted Weston RTC Chair, Britta Lerner, “but given the dynamic nature of State Conventions, we decided not to make a formal endorsement for this seat. As the convention progressed, it became clear that Penny was the front runner." When Weston cast its votes, all four delegates [Former RTC Chair Judy Stripp, Former First Selectman Woody Bliss, Current RTC Chair Britta Lerner, and RTC Campaign Chair, Bob Ferguson] voted unanimously for Rep. Bacchiochi.
