Obituary- George C. Yule

George Charles Yule, 90, entered eternal rest on Sunday, March 30, 2014. Born in Bridgeport Hospital on November 14, 1924 of Scottish parents, he attended Roger Ludlow High School, class of 1942.  Upon graduation, he answered the nation’s call and joined the Army Air Force and as Lieutenant flew C-146’s in WWII over China, Burma, and India (AKA “The Hump”) receiving an honorable discharge at the end of the war. On the GI Bill, he attended Pratt Institute and then transferred to the University of Colorado, Boulder where he received a mechanical engineering degree in 1950.  The following year, he was hired by EXXON and took the opportunity to work as a petroleum engineer in Venezuela, where he met his future wife, Olivia, and their only child, Heather, was born.  They remained in Venezuela until his retirement in 1980, at which time they returned to the U.S. and settled in Easton.  George was an avid skier, traveling to Austria & Italy, as well as Aspen & Vail to enjoy the sport.  Venezuela’s pleasant climate year around also afforded him the opportunity to play golf year-round.  He was outgoing, yet a quiet man with a great sense of humor and a strong will to live life to the fullest.  He will be missed by all who knew him.  Services and burial are private.
