Mark Twain Library's Annual Appeal

The following is a letter to the editor sent by Mary Ann Carman of the Mark Twain Library.

To the Editor:

April is Membership Month! Be a a part of an important Redding tradition by supporting the Library’s Annual Appeal. Community support is essential because the Mark Twain Library is an Association-owned library. It is not an operating department of the town of Redding, as is the case with many other Connecticut libraries which serve their municipalities. The library does receive a town grant to cover a portion of the Library’s operating costs, but nearly 40 percent of the annual budget must be raised yearly through fundraisers and the Annual Appeal membership drive.

When you support the Mark Twain Library’s Annual Appeal you are officially a “Friend ofthe Mark Twain Library” for the year following your donation. You are also in good company, as Mark Twain was the library’s very first Friend. This spring the library would like to renew its valued Friendships, and make new Friendships, too.

The Mark Twain Library Appeal letter is sent to all Redding and Georgetown residents the first week of April. Please take a moment to read how people are increasingly taking advantage of the best deal in town: their public library.

If you missed seeing it in your mailbox, simply visitwww.marktwainlibrary.org to make a tax deductible gift. You help keep the Mark Twain Library !
