Lt. Governor Candidate Dave Walker Guest of Honor at Georgetown Reception

State Senator Toni Boucher (R-26th) and former Redding First Selectman Natalie Ketcham hosted a breakfast reception today for Lt. Governor candidate Dave Walker at the old Gilbert and Bennett Wire Mill Office in Georgetown. The reception was attended by a large crowd of residents from Redding and surrounding towns.

Dave Walker is one of the nation's leading fiscal responsibility and government transformation experts. He has over 40 years of professional and leadership experience in government, as well as the private and non-profit sectors, including serving almost 10-years as U.S. Comptroller General and head of the U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO). He has successfully led and transformed organizations in all three sectors of the economy, including three federal government agencies and a global consulting service line. Dave has received Presidential appointments from three presidents of both major parties (i.e., Reagan, Bush (41) and Clinton), and was confirmed unanimously by the U.S. Senate all three times.

In his remarks, Mr. Walker addressed our state’s current problems and laid out his vision of how to correct them. “Connecticut is at a critical crossroads,” he remarked. “It's time for the people of Connecticut to be told the hard truth about the Constitution State. Connecticut is a beautiful state with a proud history and significant potential. However, it ranks at or near the bottom of all 50 states in connection with a range of key economic, financial and competitiveness statistics. Several of Connecticut's major cities also face serious challenges. It's not too late for a comeback in Connecticut, but we need new leadership and a major course correction to make it a reality.”

He further explained that he is “a turnaround specialist with a proven track record of making transformational change happen. Therefore, I have decided to seek the Office of Lt. Governor of Connecticut to partner with the next Governor and help turn around our great state.”

Mr. Walker is scheduled to run in a the Republican primary on August 12th and, if successful, would be on the ballot as Republican Lt. Governor candidate in the general election on November 4th.
