Nurse Mare foals, often referred to as the horse racing industry’s dirty little secret, are ripped from their mothers at birth, frequently bludgeoned to death or left to starve. Their mares are used as nurse mares to more “expensive foals”, mainly thoroughbreds. Some go to slaughter. And that is where the “pony skins” come from. 99% of the designers and promoters listed above use pony skins in their products, 1% use “pony hair” alone. They are making a profit off of the horrific deaths of these foals. Have you ever seen a cute little foal?
