Linda Hope Lewis, 53

Devoted wife and mother.

Linda Hope Lewis, 53, of Redding died suddenly on July 19th from complications caused by an infection contracted during a hospital stay for the treatment of an eating disorder that she had been battling for the past eight months.

Hope received a Bachelor’s degree in Theater and Speech from Bates College and a Master’s of Science in Industrial Engineering from Lehigh University. Among other firms she worked for Wang, Damon, ADP, and finally IBM in their academic systems area before becoming a freelance writer.

Before moving to Redding in 2003 Hope and her family lived in Trumbull for 17 years. Over the past 25 years in the area she enjoyed swimming at Fairfield University and various Y’s; walking, bicycling and running on Easton and Trumbull roads in all weather conditions; exercise classes; and trying to wear out the cardio machines at local gyms during her daily workouts.

A devoted wife and mother Hope is survived by her mother Irma Harris of Manhasset, her sister Susan Demmet  of New York, her children Timothy (23) and Deirdre (21) of Redding, and her husband of 27 years Mark Lewis of Redding.

Burial was private. A public memorial service will be held at 10am on Sunday July 27th at
