Woodcock Nature Center Family Howl Prowl

The Woodcock Nature Center is getting ready for Halloween, once again offering its Family Howl Prowl on Friday, Oct. 25, an event that is family friendly and scary in name only. This event, which was sold out last year, will start with a hayride down the driveway lined with jack o’lanterns and luminaries. Families will be able to partake in a flashlight scavenger hunt in the woods, a trip out on a raft to spot night animals, a fireside s’more station in the pavilion and the opportunity to meet and greet some of the center’s resident animals. The main event of the evening will be an appearance by Atka, the ambassador wolf from the Wolf Conservation Center in South Salem, N.Y. During Atka’s visit, a trainer will teach children and families different facts about wolves and their environment and answer any questions.  Children are invited to wear their Halloween costumes. The cost is $40 per family or $20 for individuals and pre-paid registration is required. Families may sign up to arrive at 5, 5:30, 6 or 6:30. Participants should bring flashlights, dress warmly and wear good walking shoes. The rain date will be Wednesday, Oct. 30thFor more information and to pre-register, call 203-762-7280www.woodcocknaturecenter.org
