Fall Foliage Hike at Huntington State Park with Julia Pemberton, Candidate for Redding First Selectman

Join Redding Selectman Julia Pemberton, a candidate for First Selectman, for a fall foliage hike on Saturday, October 12th at 1pm, at Huntington State Park.

The hike will be a simple and leisurely 2.5 mile trek across Huntington's main carriage trails.  Suitable for hikers of all ages, we'll travel down the main slope, around ponds, over the mini bridges and back up over the fields alongside Sunset Hill Road.  Children and dogs are all welcome.  Points of interest along the hike will be noted.

The 1017 acres known as Huntington State Park were willed to the State of Connecticut by Archer M. Huntington, who acquired the property in the 1930s.  It was there that his wife Anna Hyatt Huntington, the internationally famous sculptor, worked in her studio.  Her sculptures of bears and wolves welcome visitors at the entrance to the park.  The park is named for Archer Huntington's father, Collis Potter Huntington, a railroad tycoon and one of the country's wealthiest men during the late 1800s.
