By request, the Successful Study Skills 4 Students program is being offered at Weston Middle School for area students in grades 6-8. (A concurrent workshop is being offered for high schoolers as well.)
Research demonstrates the when students know how to study they are more confident, engaged and happier at school.
“Study skills are critical and the necessary foundation for academic success,” said Michelle Sagalyn, President of S4. “We are excited to offer this successful program at Weston Middle School so their students and those in neighboring communities can take advantage of these important tools at the start of new year school.”
Three 7.5 hour workshops is being offered on Wednesdays, January 30, through February 27, 2013, from 5:00 – 6:30 pm.
The S4 program is founded on educational research and evidenced-based studies, and taught by accredited, engaging teachers. In a highly participatory and dynamic in presentation, students will learn essential easy-to-implement skills, needed for successful learning and studying, including:
- Time management
- How to build on new ideas & info
- Active learning
- Asking questions deepens understanding
- Memorization strategies
- Understanding main ideas & important details
- Test preparation strategies
- Goal setting
“We know that implementing even a single new skill can make a big difference in a student’s love of learning,” continued Ms Sagalyn.
