What do JFK, a world-renowned doctor and mountaineer, and local author Susan Schaller (pen name Susan E.B. Schwartz) have in common? They are all involved in the fascinating book JFK's Secret Doctor.

Come to the Mark Twain Library Thursday, January 31 at 7 pm when Ms. Schaller will discuss her book that tells the thrilling story of alpinist and medical visionary Hans Kraus. Dr. Kraus was legendary for his hair-raising ascents on two continents as well as his pioneering approaches to treating back pain using natural methods of proper exercise and muscle strengthening--methods that brought him into the Kennedy White House and the inner circle of Camelot. In the words of Mike Wallace "Anyone who was anyone went to Kraus."

The author, a resident of Wilton, has written for the climbing and adventure media and is a partner to the President's Council on Physical Fitness and Sports.

Admission to the library program is free and is sponsored by the Mark Twain Library Program Committee. Register online at marktwainlibrary.org, call 203-938-2545, or sign up at the circulation desk.

This book really was a great read. And I bet his reading will be quite a performance too. Mr. BlackRead More is not only very, very funny, but very astute too. He's a screenwriter, so it shouldn't have surprised me to find that he is an excellent writer, but I was really impressed.
