Documentary Screening & Discussion with Producer: RFK In The Land of Apartheid

The Weston Public Library is pleased to host a screening of the
documentary featured on PBS, “RFK in the Land of Apartheid: A Ripple of Hope”
on Sunday, December 15, 2013 at 3PM in the Community Room.

This
documentary  film tells the unknown story
of Robert Kennedy’s 1966 visit to South Africa during the worst years of
Apartheid. The film evokes the connections between the American Civil Rights
Movement and the Anti-Apartheid Movement in South Africa. The filmmakers find
witnesses to this remarkable moment in time - through the sights and sounds of
present day South Africa. RFK  IN THE
LAND OF APARTHEID follows Robert Kennedy to the site of his famous “Ripple of
Hope” speech at the University of Cape Town; his meeting with Albert Luthuli,
the banned leader of the ANC, and his visit to Soweto.
