Community Corner

2nd Annual Taste of Easton

Celebrate
Your Community at Taste of Easton 2013!

As
summer draws to a close, join friends and neighbors at the second annual Taste
of Easton!  The event will take place on Saturday

September 7, 2013 (with a rain date of September 8) from 3 - 6 pm at Aspetuck Park
on Black Rock Turnpike.  There will be
live music, children's activities, a teacup raffle, informational tables from a
number of Easton civic organizations and a menu of food that features locally
grown and raised ingredients.

Taste
of Easton was born of a desire to bring together residents from every stage of
life to celebrate all that Easton has to offer: the harvest of its farms, music
by local musicians, plus a sampling of the many community and civic activities
in Easton.  By all reports, last year's
event was a big success:  both fun and
relaxing on a sparkling, clear New England afternoon.

This
year, bring your lawn chairs and enjoy music by the Wonderful Trio (featuring
Easton's own Bob Bull) and String Fingers (led by Easton's Dan Tressler.)  There will be several activities for children
including Easton Park and Rec's Bounce House, games on the diamond by the
Easton Community Center, and arts and crafts led by the Easton Arts Center.  In addition, a Masters of Ceremony will help
award raffle prizes donated by Easton farms, businesses and civic
organizations.

Menu items include Build-a-Burger with Easton Farm
Fixin’s, Roasted Hot Dogs, Veggie Burgers, Grilled Chipotle Parmesan Corn,
Tomato Salad, Easton Iced Tea, and Ice Cream flavored especially for
Easton.  A meal ticket will cost $10 for
adults and $6 for children and seniors.

As of the date of this publication the following civic organizations will have informational tables at the event: The Easton Public Library, The Easton Clean Energy Task Force, The Easton Agricultural Commission and Citizens for Easton.

While
this is primarily a recreational event, any excess proceeds will be donated
toward the purchase of a generator to
be used during power outages and weather emergencies for a heating and cooling station at the Easton Senior Center.

Over two dozen businesses, farms and organizations will be participating in this year's Taste of Easton.  A full listing can be found below and on our website: www.tasteofeastonct.org. The Taste of Easton Committee is extremely grateful to all of them.  For more information or to volunteer you can call Robin Pantalena at 203 268 8419.
