Weston Selectmen To Talk About Assault Weapons, Newtown

According to the agenda for Thursday's meeting, the selectmen will talk about assault weapon ordinances, among other things.

Among other noteable items on its agenda, the Weston Board of Selectmen is scheduled to talk about assault weapon ordinances and a resolution regarding the tragedy in Newtown at its regular meeting Thursday night, Dec. 20, at 7 p.m. in the meeting room at town hall. 

Other agenda items include the following:

  • Whether the town should appropriate $10,000 to upgrade its website
  • A decision regarding the use of Hurlbutt's North House
  • The appointments and reappointments of 11 individuals to serve in various positions on town boards and commissions

Weston will be participating in a moment of silence at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, as per the request of Gov. Dannel Malloy, according to a press release sent out by Judy Devito. 

"We invite all residents to join with town officials and our local religious leaders at St. Francis of Assisi at 9:15 a.m. for a brief ceremony, followed by the ringing of bells 26 times during that moment in honor of each life that was taken at Sandy Hook Elementary School," the release says.
