• Let's hope for clear skies today: Assuming there's a cloudless sky, , Redding and Easton residents should be able to see , which means the second planet will appear as a black dot in the sun to viewers, as it passes between the Earth and the Sun. Should it be a cloudy day, we'll just have to wait a bit to catch it again. The next transit of Venus will take place in 2117. 

• The Redding Board of Education will meet with the Easton Board of Education at 7 p.m. tonight in the library at Samuel Staples Elementary School. Following that meeting both boards are scheduled to hold their regular meetings in the school at 8 p.m.

• The Redding Conservation Commission meest tonight at 7:30 p.m. at the Old Town House.

• The Weston Police Commission meets tonight at 7:30 p.m. in the commission room at town hall. 

• On this day in 1968, presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy was shot by Sirhan Sirhan in Los Angeles. Kennedy died the next day.
