Brain, Child Debuts First Print Redesign in its 13-year History

September 10, 2013 (Wilton, Conn.) – Erielle Media LLC, parent company of Brain, Child: The Magazine for Thinking Mothers (www.brainchildmag.com), the largest literary magazine for mothers, announced the first redesign of its flagship print product in its 13-year-old history. The redesign is showcased in the company’s Fall 2013 issue, which goes on sale today.

“We reimagined what a literary magazine could look like and focused on the experience of the reader. When readers look at an essay, story or article in Brain, Child they should understand what it’s about at a glance, the custom art and photos have to support the writing,” said Editor-in-Chief, Marcelle Soviero.  “We’ve also focused more on the diversity of our readership. With more wide-ranging artistic approaches.” 

The Brain, Child redesign -- spearheaded by new Creative Directors, Nancy Andersen and Michael Lombardo of New Canaan, Connecticut’s Creative Insight, LLC -- has successfully elevated the magazine’s look to enhance the reader’s experience. “Visuals have become so important to the way people read now, so we focused on creating a more vivid experience,” says Lombardo.  “We aimed for a traditional literary look, coupled with an upscale feel.” 

In addition to innovative artistic approaches, there are section icons in vintage gold and a reworking of the format and overall presentation, all done in a way that Brain, Child’s “thinking” readership will relish.

As always, the Fall issue includes Brain, Child’s customary literary fare – essays, fiction and articles that share the wide-ranging experience of motherhood, with a diverse collection of content ranging from perceptions of infertility vs. in vitro, to a mother’s experience with her transgender child, to deciding not to give a baby up for adoption, to life with troubled teenagers. 

Brain, Child’s Editor-in-Chief, Marcelle Soviero, purchased the magazine a year ago and has not only revived the publication, but has expanded both its editorial content and accessibility.  Since her acquisition, Brain, Child’s website has also undergone a redesign, the company launched Brain, Mother, its wildly successful blog, and Brain, Child is now available on more newsstands and as an iPad application.
